BT Fleet has secured a five year sole supplier agreement with the Post Office to manage its 470-strong fleet of cash delivery vehicles and mobile post offices.
The vehicles operate in remote parts of the UK and are designed for high security deliveries. BT Fleet won the contract to manage the fleet after an 18-month tender process, because the Post Office Ltd considered them experienced in managing similar secure vehicle fleets and best able to ensure vehicle availability at reduced cost.
The fleet has specialist maintenance requirements, which have to be undertaken in the fastest possible time, to ensure that services to Post Office customers are maintained. Post Office Ltd recognised BT Fleet’s experience of managing similar fleets involved in the transportation of cash and high value goods.
Within the industry, BT Fleet has the most extensive garage network in the UK, so that if a Post Office Ltd vehicle requires servicing or repair, a garage will be available nearby so that the vehicle will be back on the road as quickly as possible.
Gillian Joyce, National Fleet manager, Post Office Ltd, said: “BT Fleet has consistently demonstrated they have the experience in managing large fleets of vehicles and have the ability to ensure, through their nationwide garage network, that vehicle downtime is kept to a minimum.”
Dave Bowen, managing director of BT Fleet, said: “The agreement between BT Fleet and Post Office Ltd highlights their confidence in our ability to offer them a comprehensive service. The combination of our account management team and in-house garage network will ensure that we meet all of Post Office Ltd’s objectives.”
