It is available in a wide range of body styles, including two heights, two lengths, panel van, crew-van, platform cab and passenger versions, as well as solutions produced by approved converters and Renault Tech.
All-New Trafic is flexible and economical, thanks to its new range of downsized, turbocharged engines, based on the latest-generation, Renault-developed 1.6 dCi unit and feature advanced technology to combine fuel consumption savings with real driving enjoyment. This range is available in two versions: a single variable geometry turbo, yielding 15% better fuel economy than the current model and a Twin-Turbo with combined fuel economy exceeding 47mpg.
SYKES-PICKAVANT TO SHOW INTERACTIVE DEMONSTRATIONS
Sykes-Pickavant will use the 2014 CV Show to show a variety of new products. Visitors to the stand will see interactive demonstrations featuring various tools in action, including coil spring compression, suspension tools, induction heating and diesel injector removal.
The company will also show a number of new Ford Transit tools, including the Hub and Front Wheel Bearing Remover Kit. This includes a heavy-duty slide hammer that operates in two directions to achieve multiple operations in one tool, providing three different solutions. It can be used either as a traditional hub puller, using the slide hammer in the reverse direction to remove the outer bearing race, or to remove the stubborn inner bearing race.
Also on display will be the new SP induction Heater+, a redesign and upgrade of the popular Mini-Ductor II that uses new engineering technology for increased energy efficiency and ease of use to release corroded/seized components and other metallic parts quickly.
TIME RIGHT TIME TO LOOK AT GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES, SAYS BANK
Transport and logistics experts at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks say that road transport firms need to be looking at expansion opportunities now in a bid to capitalise on the expected growth in the industry in the year ahead.
Matt Smith, Head of Transport, believes that as official economic indicators show an increase in GDP, road hauliers, transport providers and others involved in the supply chain should be gearing up for increased activity. He said, “In recent years, the road haulage and transport sectors have not had their challenges to seek. The recession saw a marked decrease in the number of HGV miles covered as spending retracted.”
Fuel price volatility has reduced in the last 12 months. However, operators and customers should formalise fuel surcharge agreements now to avoid future margin pressures.
Matt continued, “Fuel continues to be a large cost for road transport providers so it is important to have some degree of foresight and control over costs. We have experienced greater demand for fuel hedging products, particularly from tourism operators or public transport”.
Economic conditions mean that operators have delayed investment in renewal of their fleets and the average fleet age has crept up in an effort to preserve cash. However, Matt believes the trend is reversing. “We’re working with a growing number of customers who are putting in place lines of credit to renew and increase fleets, preparing themselves for increased activity levels or servicing new contracts.”
MULETRAY – SEE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE CV SHOW
Mule International is launching its revolutionary vehicle load management system at the CV Show.
The MuleTray storage and handling system is aimed at the professional whose vehicle is as much a place of work as a means of transport, so needs it to be as well-organised as the workshop. It is a quick-switching super-strong cassette style vehicle storage system that optimises the vehicle’s space while giving unprecedented loading and handling flexibility.
MuleTray can be used in many different ways and market sectors and the patented framework of the system lends itself to accept all creative payloads. Mule International has chosen the CV Show to launch the product so that the company can seek visitors’ opinions, try the product, meet the designer and find out how it all began.
TYRE SEALANTS ARE HERE TO STAY, SAYS AIR-SEAL PRODUCTS
Air-Seal Products has been successfully selling its range of high quality tyre sealants around the world for 14 years. Its sealant range is NATO-approved and currently used in over 31 different countries, by many high profile customers including United Nations forces. Air-Seal Products is still sole supplier to The Royal Mail.
A decade ago, tyre sealants found application in fleets exposed to hazardous environments such as landfills and construction sites. Sealants were only used to seal or prevent punctures. Few intermediate and long-haul fleets had significant problems with puncture-caused deflations, so they were not candidates for sealant application.
However, fuel and tyre prices have more than doubled. Tyre manufacturers have proven and quantified the impact of under-inflation on fuel economy and tyre mileage and sophisticated fleet managers are looking to find and all ways of improving the average fuel economy of their fleets.
KOLLER ENGINEERING PUNCHES ABOVE ITS WEIGHT

RIKEN TRUCK TYRES TO LAUNCH AT CV SHOW
International Tyres, one of the UK’s largest truck tyre wholesalers, will preview examples from its new Riken range on its stand at the CV Show. The company has negotiated exclusive rights to introduce this new brand of truck, bus and coach tyre into the market, fuelled by the strong demand witnessed for mid-range products nationwide. It will give independent tyre dealers and fleets in the UK access to Riken commercial vehicle tyres for the first time – a fitment already popular in France, Germany, Spain and throughout Eastern Europe.
Andy Jackson, Director of Oldbury-based International Tyres, says, “Dealers and fleets buying mid-range products are looking for a unique combination of quality and value – something we’re confident Riken can deliver. Riken is a Michelin-owned brand, which will help it stand out in a competitive market, and tyres are developed to suit European climate and road conditions.
The range includes tyres for two primary applications – ‘Extengo’ for long and short journeys on all tyres of sealed road surfaces, and ‘Gripstar’ for combined use on roads in and around worksites and quarries. All Riken tyres are built in factories in Europe.
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT SUPPLIERS AFTERMARKET ASSOCIATION
The campaign to promote the benefits of workshops fitting original equipment (OE) parts is taking its message to the commercial vehicle (CV) market. The Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA) will have a stand at the CV Show where it will explain to visitors the merits of fitting OE parts.
OESAA - whose slogan is ‘Our Quality. Your Reputation’ - represents 14 leading manufacturers and suppliers of OE automotive parts to vehicle makers, with most also supplying parts to the CV market. It will show examples of OE parts alongside non-genuine alternative products currently available in the UK commercial vehicle component aftermarket.
OESAA aims to promote the benefits of fitting OE quality components, ensuring that workshops and distributors can make an informed choice when purchasing spare parts. It does not claim that all second line parts are poor quality; indeed some are of good quality, but they are not OE.
OESAA Chairman Nigel Morgan, Managing Director of Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK), said, “Many of our members supply parts to the HCV or LCV market and the Show gives us the ideal opportunity of taking our message directly to those who fit parts to trucks, buses and coaches as well as the ever expanding LCV market”.

BEVAN AND A&R DOUBLE-UP FOR AFTERCARE
Bevan Group and A&R Vehicle Services will promote their 24-hour back-up in a joint presentation at the CV Show. Established suppliers to some of the best-known names on Britain’s roads, the two businesses have been formally tied since Bevan acquired a stake in A&R last summer.
Bevan Group is best known as a builder of dry freight curtainside and box bodies, also offering insulated bodies for temperature-controlled applications. Its rapid response mobile aftercare service covers truck and van bodies with 2,400 vehicles on a repair and maintenance contract or pay-as-you-go basis.
Aftercare Manager, Simon Dryburgh, says, “Operators value the fact that our highly-trained mobile technicians are able to fix the majority of problems at the roadside or customers’ premises. The loss of a tail-lift, or jammed roller shutter door, effectively renders a vehicle useless. As vehicles are purpose-built for the job, operators can’t simply hire a replacement so our service represents a big saving in all-important downtime."
A&R Vehicle Services is fully equipped to undertake major accident repairs that cannot be completed at the roadside or operators’ premises, as well offering refurbishment programmes for single vehicles to large fleets. It recently launched a night shift to meet growth in demand.
A&R Managing Director, George Simpson, says, “The partnership with Bevan represents a big adventure for our companies, and we’re both winning new orders for the extended range of services we’re now able to offer our customer bases.”
INFINITY ALL GREEN, NEW VAN RACKING SOLUTION
Infinity EVO will appear at the CV Show with the first UK launch of Infinity aluminium alloy racking systems, designed and manufactured by EVO at its conversion centre. EVO started to manufacture an all-new racking solution, essentially to complement its Blue Light conversion services, while enhancing its existing relationships with van manufacturers Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.
Infinity is a modular solution that competes with bespoke solutions. Importantly, its TUV testing integrity is maintained and certified with each installation, highly important where due diligence needs to be demonstrable.
EVO is a leader in converting blue light vehicles, primarily for police and paramedics and, recently, 100 patrol vehicles for the Highways Agency. Working in this sector requires vehicle conversion skills, highly conversant with automotive engineering and electronics, and mindful of operator safety when working a vehicle at its limit - in speed and with a maximum load.
EVO is now taking this skill-set to work with fleet operators that require well-designed and operationally purposeful conversions. Its business plan is initially to develop relationships with fleet operators based within a 30 mile radius of its Luton base, as well as London.
COOLERTECH TO SHOW HIGHLY-ENGINEERED VEHICLE SOLUTIONS
This year’s CV Show will give Coolertech the opportunity to show a selection of its innovative and highly-engineered vehicle solutions. The company designs and builds high quality insulated vehicles ranging from small car-derived vans through to 26 tonne rigids and will display three insulated vehicles: two box bodies and one panel van conversion.
Coolertech will show its recently-launched AiroSprint design on a 3.5 tonne box body. This innovation has been designed specifically for the Mercedes Sprinter chassis cab, and features a narrower, more streamlined body that follows the lines and width of the vehicle’s cab. A lightweight body styling kit also complements the shape, colour and form of the cab’s bumper section and door detail trim.
A FUSO Canter 7C15 Eco Hybrid is the second vehicle in Coolertech’s line-up. This 7.5 tonne truck features a lightweight, single compartment insulated box body designed to carry chilled goods. The body features myriad design elements intended to gain maximum payload.
Coolertech’s van conversion capabilities are represented by a Mercedes Sprinter Euro-6 insulated panel van. The dual compartment, multi-temperature conversion features Coolertech’s low-temperature side door which is hinged on the right and, when opened fully, sits flat against the side of the panel van, allowing safe access and pallet loading.
GOODYEAR SAYS “WE TAKE YOU FURTHER”
Following the successful launch of its new KMax and FuelMax products last September, Goodyear’s CV Show stand will highlight these products as well as its service development programmes designed to support customers’ businesses to be more successful.
The Goodyear KMax range has been developed for improved mileage performance with no compromise on other important criteria such as fuel efficiency and traction. The Goodyear FuelMax range is for the operator seeking to optimise fuel efficiency with good mileage.
With fleet operators mindful of keeping costs low, Goodyear acknowledges that fuel-efficient tyres are very much in demand and believes that its FuelMax tyre can offer substantial savings to fleets.
Marc Preedy, Commercial Director at Goodyear, said, “The Goodyear FuelMax tyre is a perfect example of our ability to decrease a fleet’s cost of ownership. The steer tyre was awarded an A-grade in fuel economy, the first in the market and an achievement we are very proud of. Label grades can point to considerable fuel savings for fleets. For example, the amount that can be saved on a fleet of 50 trucks with the FuelMax tyre, instead of an EU Tyre Label D-grade rating, is in excess of £200,000.”
ISUZU TRUCK TO UNVEIL NEW EURO-6 LINE-UP AT CV SHOW
At the CV Show, Isuzu Truck will unveil four vehicles from its recently announced 2014 range of Euro-6 trucks. The company will also launch a new parts club loyalty scheme; an initiative available to all ITUK customers that will save money in the short- and long-term.
In line with the latest Euro-6 legislation, Isuzu Truck will show two versions of the brand-new lighter N75.150 Urban 4x2 rigid. Previous Isuzu Euro-5 7.5 tonners had one engine option, however, the new Euro-6 Urban model features Isuzu’s turbocharged four-cylinder 3.0 litre, 150ps engine.
By using the lighter engine, the new Euro-6 N75.150 Isuzu Urban weighs 200kg less than the Euro-6 N75.190 Forward model, which will remain available for operations involving more arduous, longer and faster average-speed journeys. The new 150ps Isuzu Urban is ideal for payload critical, stop-start, local distribution operations.
One of the new Isuzu Forward Urban vehicles on display will feature a Petit Forestier-bodied truck with a Carrier Xarios refrigeration system, while the second will have a dropside body.
CONTINENTAL SHOWS VDO DTCO 2.1 ACTIVE DIGIITAL TACHOGRAPH
The VDO DTCO 2.1 Active is the latest digital tachograph on the market, combining the adaptable skill of utilising special file (S file) information with GPS data and the one minute rule legislation, while making the unit the easiest on the market to operate.
For many years, Continental, under the VDO product brand, has supplied a range of digital tachographs; each version of which released additional information for fleet operators ensuring the most benefit could be gained. Continental also offers a Forensic Analysis Service.
Product Manager, Peter Needham, commented, “There is much technology in our newest digital tachograph unit that the Fleet Manager is potentially unaware of. We now have the option to download S File data out of the unit when the vehicle has been in a collision. This information is vital for accident analysis.”
THE NEW ORDER FOR WORKING VANS
A high-performance Italian range is launching at the CV Show to help speed the working day. It’s not a supercar with a utility body tacked on but an order system racking that will transform the working van into a supervan.
Order System is distributed in the UK by Camberley-based JNL Engineering which already holds major UK concessions, including the sole distribution of all VM Motori diesel engines and spare parts.
JNL Managing Director Qumrul Khan, an engineer with many years’ experience, is impressed by the build quality and crash test performance of Order System and plans to roll it out across the UK through a network of fitting stations. “Too many tradespeople waste time every day searching through vans as they try to find tools or odd parts that are essential yet easy to lose,” he explains.
Order System is designed to be light yet strong and is constructed from aluminium to minimise the effect on the van’s overall payload. However, it still offers the capacity to carry everything in its right place so that the working day is more efficient. The system comprises built in modules that can be fitted in seven days from ordering, with a wide range of possible permutations that can be tailored to limited budgets.
MORE POWER AND LESS FUEL FROM TERBERG DTS
